By 1900 Centauri Time,
My vessel was stocked with new treats of mine.
My costume impressed,
for I was well-dressed
disguised as an Ektoribine.
Each planet on my route
Had given sweets and tasty loot
Except Rigel I,
they gave me none,
Just an apple, a toothbrush,
and a broken Venusian flute.
I locked my coordinates for Sol,
(the system that started it all)
Set my ship to cruise,
(What could I lose?)
and sat munching on a caramel popcorn ball.
I'd read Earth had delectable goodies,
though I'd never been.
Worst that could happen,
perhaps I'd make a friend!
I parked my sublight saucer
on a green near a house of white.
It was partly cloudy, so I turned on all my lights.
What ruckus, what fanfare!
I heard greeting bells!
Green-suited Terrans
Marched up to my silver shell.
I heard them yell to me,
My, were they excited!
I wondered what sweets awaited.
(and this without being invited!)
I tidied up my costume,
brushed crumbs off of my collar,
and straightened my headband
(that had only cost one Martian dollar!)
I opened the air lock,
I was ecstatic just to greet!
And in an imitation of Earth-speak,
said, "Trick or treat!"
